Language, Terminology, Formality of writing
In the GhostGoal blog, the writing is in personal engagement, creates a greater understanding of the thoughts and feelings of the writer. Humour and sarcasm is evidently seen "When I die a decade prematurely." This creates the idea that although the writer is discussing a serious topic, he still wants to enjoy discussing it. There is also a sense of control in the text "Believe me" showing that the writer is dictating the discussion according to his agenda and views. The writer then gives an insight to the topic, displaying his knowledge and linking this again with his own views. In addition the text can be seen as judgemental as many opinions can be seen, for example, "Shanghai is a brash, loud city." The choice of words in this blog is kept simple, but straight to the point. Perhaps this suggests that the target audience this blog is aiming at may not be very intellectual, but certaintly very enthusiastic and passionate about the sport.
