| Football Blog - Kickette |
The Kickette football blog uses a wide range of techinques to inform and entertain the audience. Firstly the writer uses the word "we." This is used to include the audience in the blog - making them feel more involved in the debate and discussion. What makes it also very useful, is that it limits the sense of the blog being bias, as everybody is part of it. This is very effective because some football blogs have been argued to be one sided, due to the some strong views and opinions of writers. In addition the writer uses exciting language "A puffer vest!" and "*gasp* polyester," by using the exclamation mark and astericks to add emphasis. Nevertheless this creates the impression that the style of writing on Kickette is informal. The use of satire and humour is often seen in football blogs, and this one is no different. The writer claims Jose Mourinho has a "case of the sadz," and states Real Madrid cannot beat Barcelona even with Messi playing with his "legs tied together." Likewise along with humour, a metaphor is used, comparing Barcelona as Jose's "Everest." Evidently instead of stating the obvious such as big or massive, the writer makes it more amusing by using one of the world's largest mountains, in parallel to the almighty strength of Barcelona.
